At Solenis, our customers are a key part of the equation that we use to solve for sustainability. We know that when we partner with our customers in water-intensive industries and drive value through sustainable solutions, we all succeed.

In 2020, we formalized our approach to incorporate sustainability into our business with more rigor, transparency and accountability. We remain dedicated to tracking our environmental, social and governance (ESG) progress and to partnering with our customers (the C in our equation) to ensure future success of our stakeholders. We are excited to share our accomplishments — and our path forward.

Our Approach

Our sustainability approach is core to our overall business strategy: supporting our customers in their own sustainability journeys in demonstrable ways. Foundational to this, every functional group in our company participates in several programs to drive our own sustainable growth. This clear focus contributes to creation of a circular economy with less consumption of natural resources while minimizing the impact on our environment and society.

In 2020, we carried out an in-depth materiality assessment; and in 2021, we updated this assessment through the use of Datamaran* software to identify and prioritize the key material topics that have the potential to impact the long-term viability of the company and are of importance to our internal and external stakeholders. These material topics help us organize our priorities, actions and commitments.

Our 2021 materiality assessment update reconfirmed our material topics which organizes our actions and commitments across our four focus areas or pillars: Wellbeing, Health & Safety of Our People; Protecting our Planet; Partnerships in Our Value Chain; and Responsible Business Practices.

Strategic Framework

Through the action and commitment to the four sustainability pillars defined, Solenis aims to create value for our stakeholders, while responding to sustainability and societal challenges, including contributing to the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In fiscal year 2021, Solenis has revised and prioritized the SDGs where we believe we can have the biggest impact through our customers, employees, products, processes, and partnerships.

Our sustainability ambitions are clear, and we have chosen to focus on the metrics illustrated below. As we work towards our targets, we’ll keep looking for more ways to run our business in a sustainable way, enhancing growth while decreasing our environmental impact.
