Chlorination is a reliable method to disinfect water for industrial and municipal uses, but not all disinfection systems deliver the same value. Water-intensive industrial operations need solutions that ease containment challenges, mitigate risks from accidental release, and reduce operational and application costs. More and more, customers want to replace chlorine gas and other less reliable disinfection systems with calcium hypochlorite-based technologies.
Solenis’ calcium hypochlorite-based chips, granules and tablets, which were previously sold under the HTH™ and HTH™ Scientific brands, are reliable, cost-effective solutions for disinfecting cooling water, process water, wastewater and potable water. Marketed today as Biosperse CH70 chlorine chips, granules and tablets, these unique, dissolving products are used in combination with innovative feeder systems at the customer site to produce a fresh, on-demand, concentrated liquid-chlorine solution that effectively controls bacteria and algae and eliminates slime growth.
Commercial applications confirm Biosperse CH70 products and feeder systems provide several benefits for industrial and municipal operations:
Biosperse CH70 chlorine chips, granules and tablets are 70% calcium hypochlorite and provide a high-strength, minimum 68% available chlorine output. The controlled, slow release of these dissolving products improves application efficacy and reduces the risk of generating unwanted organic contaminants. Compared to gaseous and liquid chlorine that is supplied in cylinders and other bulk containers, Biosperse CH70 products, because of their compact and dry form, are safer and less expensive to ship, deliver and store.
Biosperse CH70 products are NSF/ANSI/CAN standard 60 compliant.
The systems used to feed Biosperse CH70 products feature compact designs with easy access for chemical loading, helping to simplify operations and reduce maintenance costs. A feeder system can be used to proportionally feed the Biosperse CH70 product or it can be used in combination with our OnGuard™ monitoring and control system to provide around-the-clock surveillance and control of the disinfection program.
Notably, industrial and municipal operations can treat up to 320 million liters of water per day using a single feeder system.
