Panguaneta SpA, located in Sabbioneta, Italy, is a leading worldwide manufacturer of Italian poplar plywood. Panguaneta was the first European mill to receive the NAF (No Added Formaldehyde) CARB 2 registration (Executive Order N-14-191 dated June 20, 2014). The mill achieved this by using Solenis’ Soyad Adhesive Technology.

Recommended Solution

Panguaneta SpA has a strong focus on ecological properties of their plywood panels. Their goal was to reduce formaldehyde emission from the panels to the lowest level possible. To achieve this, the mill used Soyad adhesive technology and was able to apply for NAF CARB 2 certification which allows them exemption from the rigid testing necessary.

Results Achieved

Solenis and Panguaneta SpA have been working together since 2011 to develop a No Added Formaldehyde plywood panel. Panguaneta selected Solenis because Soyad adhesive technology was able to fulfill all the necessary requirements for interior grade plywood and it has been extensively tested in the end user market.

Based on the results achieved, Panguaneta applied for CARB 2 certification. This certification has led to new sales opportunities for their NAF certified plywood panels in the North American, European and Asian markets.

Additionally, NAF panels can be used in ecological friendly building projects such as LEED or Bream.

Benefits

Furnishings and building materials made with Soyad adhesives are the most sustainable and can earn LEED Indoor Environmental Quality Credits. The use of materials made with these adhesives is a must for sustainable design projects, especially those aimed at improving indoor air quality.
