Customer Challenge

A large Southern U.S. pulp mill was having issues with the high cost and usage of fresh lime to meet their demand for white liquor.

Recommended Solution

Solenis recommended a lime mud dewatering program using Infinity PS4330 to increase drainage on the lime mud filter. The desired effect was to increase the throughput of the lime kiln and the quality of the reburned lime. Recommended dose of Infinity PS4330 was 0.25 to 0.5 lb/ton of dry mud to the filter.

Results Achieved

With the addition of the Infinity PS4330 to the lime mud filter, the mill was able to increase their mud flow resulting in an increase of 20.3 tons/day of kiln production. Additionally, the improved quality of the lime, as measured by lime availability and reduced residual carbonate, resulted in additional savings. The Infinity PS4330 program resulted in >23 tpd reduction in purchased lime delivering a 270% ROI return to the customer.
