<h6>Customer Challenge</h6> <p>A fuel ethanol plant located in the Midwestern United States was experiencing biofilm-related problems and mild steel corrosion issues in its 125,000-gallon cooling water system. The plant manager was interested in replacing the plant&rsquo;s existing microbiological control program and reached out to Solenis for assistance.</p> <h6>Recommended Solution</h6> <p>In an effort to improve biofilm control and reduce corrosion rates, the plant manager agreed to evaluate Solenis&rsquo; Biosperse&trade; XD3899 microbiocide against its existing microbiological control program, which relied on hypobromous acid and isothiazoline.</p> <h6>Results Achieved</h6> <p>Shortly after the trial startup, microbial counts were reduced by more than 99.9%, biofilm was eliminated, and mild steel corrosion rates were reduced by 50%.
