<h6>Customer Challenge</h6> <p>A Southern U.S. pulp mill wanted to extend the time between its digester acid cleanings from once a year to once every two years.&nbsp; To accomplish this goal, the mill required a more robust scale inhibitor program to control scale buildup.</p> <h6>Recommended Solution</h6> <p>Solenis recommended that the baseline feed rate of the existing scale inhibitor (Infinity&trade; SL4342) be increased from 0.45 lb/ton to 0.60 lb/ton and that SmartScale Technology be employed to proactively adjust feed rates based on various digester KPI inputs.</p> <h6>Results Achieved</h6> <p>The SmartScale Technology was used to finetune the feed rate of the Infinity SL4342 scale inhibitor at various dosage points.&nbsp; The program enabled the mill to increase the time between cleanings to two years, saving the mill an estimated $440,000 a year.
