Solenis Joins European Alliance to Help Bring Bio-based Materials to Market

Cross-industry initiative targets €10 billion in bio-based purchase agreements by 2030 to strengthen demand and support investment in Europe

November 3, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WILMINGTON, Delaware (USA) – Solenis, a leading global provider of water treatment, process and hygiene solutions, has joined the Bio-Based Europe Alliance as a founding member. The voluntary initiative unites buyers, producers, suppliers and public authorities to build demand for bio-based materials and support the investment needed to bring them into commercial production.

Launched at the Global Bioeconomy Summit in Dublin, Ireland, the Alliance brings together more than 100 stakeholders to help move bio-based innovations from research and demonstration into commercial production.

“For bio-based materials to gain wider use, customers need confidence in how they perform and whether they can count on a reliable supply,” said Dr. Lotta Kanto Öqvist, Chief Sustainability Officer, Solenis. “At Solenis, we work with customers to address their operational needs and sustainability goals together. Through the Alliance, we can bring that experience into discussions with producers, buyers and other partners about what it takes to bring these materials into commercial use.”

Solenis will draw on its experience in industrial water treatment, consumer solutions and cleaning and hygiene markets to contribute to the Alliance’s work. As a founding member, the company will have the opportunity to help shape the Alliance’s governance, potential procurement guidelines and ways of working.

The Alliance aims to mobilize a collective €10 billion in purchase agreements for bio-based materials and products by 2030. By connecting European buyers with producers of bio-based materials, products and technologies, it seeks to give producers a clearer picture of demand and greater confidence to invest in commercial production.
