GPAM strength program reducing fiber use, energy demand and CO₂ emissions.
WILMINGTON, Del. (USA) — Solenis, a leading global provider of water and hygiene solutions, today announced that Hainan Gold Hongye Paper has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Solenis Sustainability Award for achieving substantial reductions in fiber consumption, chemical usage, energy demand and CO₂ emissions through the implementation of Solenis’ glyoxalated polyacrylamide (GPAM) strength‑enhancement program across multiple tissue machines.
“By integrating GPAM technology into Hainan Gold Hongye Paper’s tissue making operations, the mill significantly improved fiber utilization while reducing refining energy, wet strength resin consumption and carbon emissions,” said Ted Kelly, Vice President and General Manager of Solenis’ Consumer Solutions business in Eurasia. “These improvements demonstrate how targeted wet‑end optimization can deliver strong, measurable sustainability impact while supporting product performance and operational reliability.”
Working with Solenis, Hainan Gold Hongye Paper implemented Hercobond™ Plus 555 across key tissue machines, delivering the following sustainability benefits:
“Partnering with Solenis enabled us to achieve meaningful improvements in resource efficiency across our production lines,” said Wang Niandong, General Manager of Hainan Gold Hongye Paper. “The program supports our long‑term sustainability goals by lowering fiber use, reducing our carbon footprint and strengthening overall operational efficiency.”
The positive results achieved are now being extended across the broader Hainan Gold Hongye Paper operations, where the GPAM program contributes directly to improved sustainability performance through significant fiber, chemical and energy savings, further reducing the company’s environmental impact.
